What is SQL Enterprise Monitor? |
| When your database server
slows down you can use our SQL Enterprise Monitor diagnostic tool to troubleshoot
the problem. See instant graphical and data views of the current performance of
any SQL Server on your network. All you need to do is register it and start
monitoring.
As a DBA, network or security administrator you can immediately see where
and how server resources are being consumed and how many users are connected to
your databases, who is connected and what queries are running.
If you're a developer or tester you can use SQL Enterprise Monitor to see all
the T-SQL and stored procs running against your databases. You can see how many times
each piece of code has been executed and quickly find queries being repeatedly
executed. These can then be converted to stored procs, thereby getting SQL
Server to create execution plans and so
improving your query and application performance.
Our cross-server settings comparison feature makes it easy to move from
development to production by ensuring you have the same level of security and
service pack installed and that the servers are consistent. This helps to reduce
errors due to differences between the two systems.
SQL Enterprise Monitor gives you enterprise-wide visibility into your SQL
Servers - and all on your desktop for just $395!

What Does SQL Enterprise Monitor Do? |
This tool has features
jam-packed into it, but here's the ones we consider most important to you if
you're responsible for maintaining SQL Server.
Most SQL Servers, whether production or development, will have scheduled jobs
running on them, often overnight when you're not there. It's often imperative
that these jobs run as they perform important maintenance tasks. SQL Enterprise
Monitor will show you all the jobs that have failed within the last 24 hours,
across all the servers you have registered. This saves you time in checking each
server individually to make sure each job has completed successfully. You can
check as soon as you arrive at your desk.
The enterprise view displays cross-server security and configuration settings.
This makes it really easy to keep your important production servers consistent
with each other. You can register as many SQL Servers as you have in your
network. Using the enterprise view you can cross compare versions and editions,
service packs, collation sequence, security and auditing settings and more.
Under this section you'll also find what we think is the most important tab.
This is the Services tab and it shows you the service state of SQL Server, SQL
Agent, DTC, SQL Browser, Full Text and Terminal Services. You'll see in just a
glance which services are running, paused, stopped or not installed.
And if you're running a data warehouse operation, you'll be pleased to hear that
you can check on Integration Services (SSIS), Analysis Services (SSAS) and
Reporting Services (SSRS) too. Need to know if they're running, stopped or not
even installed? No problem, you'll find this out too.
This tool makes also capacity planning easy. You can see how much load is being put on the
server and each database. Find out which queries and applications are consuming the
most resources and determine if heavily used databases should be moved to
another server or if hardware upgrades are required.
With the single server spotlight view, SQL Enterprise Monitor gathers
performance information for a selected SQL Server and shows how resources are
being consumed by each database, application, user and query. The visual display
makes it quick and easy to see what users and applications are affecting the
performance.
The dashboard view offers a speedy overview of running services and processes
and any blocked transactions.
Phew, that's quite a lot in one tool!
